Our practical night navigation sessions are ideal for anyone preparing for their Mountain Leader assessment or in the consolidation period. These are also open to competent navigators wanting to improve or test their skills.
Due to the level of techniques and strategies covered on this course, it is advisable to attend a daytime navigation course before booking onto this.
The purpose of practicing navigation at night is to simulate poor weather and visibility conditions that you may experience when out walking during the day, when you are likely to need the skills covered on this course.
The course will consist of various techniques to aid poor visibility such as using pacing and timing to determine position, hand-railing linear features, contour interpretation, collecting and catching features and following compass bearings to name a few.
The courses will take place in the Forest of Bowland in North Lancashire; meeting point to be confirmed closer to the date. The courses will start at 18.00 and finish at 21.30
Full details and kit list will be sent following booking confirmation. If you have any question about this course prior to booking, please feel free to drop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Please ensure that you read our T's and C's, cancellation policy and refund policy prior to making any bookings.
