The positive effects of the outdoors for people’s mental wellbeing has been well documented and researched. All of our walks take place in the great outdoors in our natural environment of space and freedom. At NavTrek we are passionate about spending time in the outdoors and we love to share this passion with others. Our wellbeing walks foster a compassionate and supportive environment to meet and connect with other people.
Our wellbeing walks are led by qualified mountain leaders. We will explore the natural environment to enhance your experience; from flora and fauna to the geology of the landscape. Being fully aware of our surroundings and in the present moment is the key concept of mindfulness and our wellbeing walks.
Please note that this item is non refundable. The ticket fee for this wellbeing event is taken as a donation to charity.
Full details of the walk, meeting point and kit list will be sent via email 7-10 days prior to the event. If you require any information prior to this you can email Rose at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions you may have.
We aim to provide walks that are inclusive for all people and in a bid to make our walks more inclusive for those with limited experience and gear/equipment we have teamed up with Salomon who have provided us with a pool supply of their Quest 4D walking boots for men and women in a variety of sizes!
If you would like to join one of our wellbeing walks and would like to use/test out some Salomon walking boots, all you have to do is provide your shoe size prior to the event!
Ticket fee's for these walks will be donated to the Lancaster Men's Hub.
Lancaster Men’s Hub – Wellbeing through doing
Many factors such as grief, disability, mental ill-health or financial worries can lead to men becoming isolated or feeling distanced from their fellow human beings. Women are often able to voice and share their worries, whereas men sometimes find it difficult to reach out or articulate their own feelings. Men tend to take a more sideways approach to talking, sharing and breaking out of loneliness.
The purpose of Lancaster Men’s Hub (LMH), is to help by providing activities which open up exactly that sideways approach. By taking part in any kind of shared activity you automatically meet with others. Small exchanges about what you are doing gradually grow into relaxed conversations. Friendships can form and people can get to know each other. LMH’s aim is to promote the wellbeing of men in Lancaster and the surrounding area through organising and promoting social and practical activities.
LMH is a new charity, registered in November 2021, but it has already begun to provide activities with the intention to work towards widening the range of these activities offered – anything from book clubs and healthy eating to woodworking and metal detecting. LMH also connect with other charities and non-profit groups as well as some professional organisations, take part in shared events and support socially and environmentally positive initiatives. LMH hold activities of their own but also assist in events and activities run by our partner organisations.
